Cardiff refurbishments for Volker Rail

During Weekend/MW 18, ASH-CG Pway Dept were requested at very late notice to assist one of extremely valued clients to assist on some heavy S&C & P/L refurbishments. The works in a private sidings,  were required to allow for the increase of freight trains to the port in Cardiff.

The project required the removal of all the iron work off 2 hand controlled turnouts & circa 40 timbers on each turnout, excavation to dumpers to remove wet spots & formation issues. New timbers installed, existing iron work replaced. Re-gauge with new components, top ballast & Kango throughout.

The team them moved on to undertake some Re-Railing, spot re-sleeper & Kango pack.
